for the record.

so... i haven't FORGOTTEN about my blog, per seeeee....... i've just been willfully ignoring it. YOU'RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME, BLOG! you can nag my mind all you want, see if i update you!

try your luck, though. i'm writing on it today, so who's to say it couldn't become a regular thing?

for more frequent updating, my website, www.charlottepines.com, is probably your best bet, but then who can tell the future?

jokes aside, i am working on a show called callous cad. it's gonna be awesome, i guarantee it.

check out the official callous cad website! it's one of two shows that will be in rep at the HERE arts space in soho from friday, september 30th - sunday october 16th. i will be portraying a magical being, (see the confetti?) sent to help tom chao (under confetti) celebrate his new love... or so i think!

the other half of cheerful insanity is kim katzberg's penetrating the space, which looks rad as hell. SO GO SEE THEM BOTH!

SUMMER PLANS!

I have recently had the wonderful fortune of being cast in Saratoga Shakespeare Festival's (it is happening this year!) production of Hamlet in the role of Ophelia. I am so blessed to be able to work on such a great role, such great text, and to be able to spend time with my friends and family upstate!

It runs from the 13th of July until the 25th.

Keep checking back for more updates with more specific information.

shadows of harmony trailer!!!

so yesterday, i had a short shoot for a supporting role in another of my friend mitch's films. it was great trapsing around the lower east side, and what made it especially amazing was that my final shot was in front of the building that formerly housed the tin palace! (for those of you who don't know, the tin palace was my father's jazz club in the seventies. legacy!)

mitch obviously didn't plan that, and i had no idea where the last few locations were, so when we arrived on the northeast corner of bowery and second, in front of a graffiti-ed building with green painted window frames, i nearly caught on fire.

in other news, the shadows of harmony trailer is up on youtube. take a peek, enjoy! i'm so stoked for the finished product! we still have a few more scenes to shoot, but i thought i'd let everyone in on a sneak preview so we can all get excited!

international commedia dell'arte day

last night, i performed, despite large, wet snowflakes, slapping and slopping their way to the slushy streets below. around every block in manhattan, there was at least a two foot wide moat, preventing easy street crossing, making travel most unpleasant. NEVERTHELESS, the good people of our commedia show were in rare form, rehearsing new and old material for what turned out to be a really awesome show.

the performers were incredible. each one of them. i still can't get over seth and christina's kind of live punch and judy. it was AMAZING. there was a man videotaping it, so hopefully i'll find myself a copy of that soon!

next up, final sugar packet shoot, and a supporting role in another short film with my friend mitch.

but first, i left all my earthly possessions in bushwick last night, as it was my good friend evan's birthday. must recover them so i can get work done!

some pictures from the shadows of harmony shoot

i'd like to think i go by a similar description.

my new friend at the lake house set, whitey kitty. he wants to be a star, and kept getting in the shots.

justin (director, in the hat), coostay (grip, in the shades), chilling outside the gas station set.

bandele (audio) in his cute, new paws.

scorpion bowl. and you thought i was kidding.

so this is my new blog, for any and all interested. hopefully i can update this, and in turn keep updated with my friends. i'd also like to keep track of my life, for reflection and nostalgia. fun fact, this is my first blog since my 10th grade xanga, so hopefully this will be considerably less lame!

right now i'm on location in connecticut, and i've been here since wednesday. i'm shooting a thesis film with my friend and director, justin van wie. it's been a really exhausting, intense and brilliant past few days, and i'm really proud of the work i'm doing. i'm especially proud of the work that everyone is doing. the small yet competent crew is super knowledgeable, and working with justin is awesome. his direction is intelligent, intuitive and kind.

today we will be working with live scorpions in the doctor's office scene.

i'll be back in new york tomorrow evening, and on thursday, i'll be participating in world commedia day with my friend brian foley, he and his wife are now the proud parents of little robyn! very exciting, and updates on that, hopefully!
